WHAT IS WORDLE?

Wordle is a very simple game to play. Here on Wordplays, players can:

  • Play the same daily wordle puzzle as other players. The first "New Game" that a Wordplays user starts will be the same as other users

  • Play as many games as they want. Once one Wordle game is finished, try another by clicking "New Game"
  • Share their daily results on social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, etc) or via text message using colored emoji squares

HOW DO YOU PLAY WORDLE?

The Wordle player is challenged with guessing a five letter word in six attempts. When a player places a guess they are shown which letters they used are in the target word.

  • The goal is to figure out the five-letter word. Simply enter in a five-letter word and see if the answer is correct.
  • When you enter the first word, the letters highlighted green mean that you've entered a correct letter in the correct position. If the letters are highlighted orange, this means the letter is right, but the position is incorrect. When the letter is gray, the letter is not in the target word.
  • Using the highlighted color hints, continue to guess five-letter words. You only have six guesses to find the correct five-letter word.
  • If you guess the correct word, you win. If you fail to guess the word within six tries the target word is revealed.

WHAT ARE THE RULES OF WORDLE?

Wordle is a simple game to play. Here are the basic Wordle rules:

  • You have six or less attempts to find the Wordle word
  • The word must be valid and part of the Wordplays word list
  • Correct letters in the right place will turn green
  • Correct letters in the wrong place will turn orange
  • Incorrect letters turn gray
  • You can use letters more than once
  • Answers are never plural

WHAT ARE WORDLE STREAKS?

A Wordle streak refers to how many puzzles a player has solved consecutively. Wordle will keep track of how many games you've played and how many victories you’ve had.

WHERE CAN YOU PLAY WORDLE?

Wordle was created by Welsh software engineer Josh Wardle in 2021. The gameplay mirrors the 1955 word game of Jotto and the popular TV game show Lingo. Wordle was purchased by The New York Times in 2022 where they kept the game free for all players on their platform. Many variations of Wordle have been created, such as the Wordle game on Wordplays.com.
