You can work your way up from basic spelling tests to challenging ones! Some kids may want to print out or write down some of the spelling words to study before trying a particular online quiz. Sometimes it's fun to try online spelling quizzes with friends. Two friends can take the same online spelling quiz and challenge one another to do better. You can have a lot of fun learning to spell words together!

Flashcards are a favorite study tool for many elementary school kids. Flashcards are very easy to use and to find. You can get printable flashcards online or you can create their own flashcards with index cards or even scrap paper. You can quiz one another or you can quiz youself with a set of flashcards. Spelling flashcards can be used during lunchtime at school or on the bus ride home. In short, spelling flashcards are a convenient study tool that you can take out whenever you have a moment to spare!

Worksheets are also helpful to kids who are trying to improve their spelling skills. Like flashcards, they are easy to find. You can find printable spelling worksheets online or create your own worksheets. Also, there are a variety of worksheets that can help you develop your spelling skills. For instance, on one side of a worksheet there may be a list of spelling words. On the other side of the worksheet, the spelling words are listed in a different order with their letters scrambled up. A kid must unscramble the letters to figure out the correct spelling word. Another worksheet may have a list of spelling words with a few letters missing. A kid must find the missing letters in order to end up with the correct spelling of each word. Some kids learn best with worksheets that require them to trace the letters of each spelling word and then write the word three or four times. You may want to write each letter in a different color to help yourself fully absorb each spelling word. You can write the word in print letters and then in cursive letters. Certainly, you can get creative when using worksheets to learn new spelling words.
