HOW TO PLAY WORDS WITH FRIENDS?
Words with Friends is similar to two-player Scrabble, but has a few differences such as the arrangement of premium squares, and the point values and distribution of some of the letters. Each player is randomly given seven letter tiles which they can use to form words or swap letter tiles out with the pool of unused tiles. The player can form words similar to Scrabble, by building them horizontally or vertically. The goal is to build words that have the most points possible and to beat the score of your opponent. The game is completed when a player plays all the tiles on their rack or there are no more unused tiles to be chosen. The game can also end if a player has three consecutive scoreless turns, unless the score for both players is zero.
The player who plays the final tile will receive all the points of the remaining unused tiles and the opposing player will have those points deducted from their total. The player with the most points wins.
HOW DO YOU KEEP SCORE IN WORDS WITH FRIENDS?
Each letter tile has a point value and when you create a word, you can add up the value of all the letter tiles. If you use all seven letter tiles in one move, you get an extra 35 points. There are also spaces labeled DL and TL. The DL space means double score and TL means triple score of the letter tile value. There are also DW and TW spaces that will double and triple the value of the words. These premium scoring spaces create many opportunities for enhancing your score that is different from your typical Scrabble game.
Premium score spaces - DL, TL, DW, TW
- Double Letter: Doubles the value of the tile
- Triple Letter: Triples the value of the tile
- Double Word: Doubles the value of the word
- Triple Word: Triples the value of the word
